OKCGC has just returned from an amazing investigation at the Waverly Hills Sanatorium. We are currently sifting through mountains of collected data, and are compiling the investigation report. We are grateful to our hosts at Paranormal Underground magazine for making this remarkable investigation a reality. It was a delight meeting everyone of you and from all of us at the Oklahoma City Ghost Club we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks.
Back to crunching on the data, but stay tuned for the report coming very soon…
Keith Engle, director of Oklahoma Ghost Investigations (http://www.oklahomaghostinvestigations.com/team.htm)
has graciously allowed us to demo several of his prototype SpecterCam Wide/Full spectrum cameras during our visit to Waverly Hills. These cameras, featured on Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files on the SyFy network, are modified for use with multiple light spectrums and have an unbelievable low-light sensitivity. Keep an eye out soon, Mr. Engle will be launching a website making these essential cameras available for public purchase. We are honored to get to field test some of his newer designs and as always, we will share our results here.
This device, called a geophone, detects subtle and low frequency vibrations and displays the intensity on an LED bargraph. This is similar to the other geophone that we employ, but Erik has added several upgrades that increase its usefulness in the field. A more sensitive sensor, coupled with an LED pilot light (for locating the unit when it is not activating) have been added to this stock kit, as well as a custom enclosure. This enclosure and form factor was the design of Erik, and I can’t wait to see it in action!
We are excited to deploy this and the standard geophone, and will be using both next weekend when the team investigates the Waverly Hills Sanatorium. Check back for updates on that investigation as well as upcoming events this fall.
Bug/Dust Orb comparison photos…
Shawn at RCPS/KY has brought to my attention some great comparison shots of various bugs and dust orbs that can be mistaken for paranormal and seem to be prevalent in many outdoor investigations/photos.
Check out his digital photography page for these and other false- positive examples on his site
