DEVA: Discovering the truth about Orbs
By now you’ve probably seen a hundred video clips on other websites claiming “Flying Paranormal Orbs”. Well this research project dealt directly with this type of phenomenon. Armed with countless hours of video containing these suspect video anomalies, we started to suspect dust contamintaion may be a partial cause of these anomalies. To prove this theory, we invented D.E.V.A., or Dust Eliminating Video Apparatus.
Pictured below is the first prototype of DEVA. The concept is simple. By creating an airtight chamber mounted to the camera lens, we are “sealing” a 6inch dust free area in front of the lens effectively locking the focal point from dust.
Soon we found the original prototype was unstable and would fall off. So we redesigned the mounting mechanism and created DEVA 2.0. Unfortunately this model had a stablity problem as well. Back to the design board we went, and before long produced DEVA 3.0. This version provided the mounting stability we needed along with the nonreflecting surface and dust free freatures of the previous versions.
After using DEVA for only a short time, we noticed a marked improvement. Dust would still appear, but instead of appearing as round orblike balls of light, it was more oddly shaped and definable. So we tried something just a bit different.
We quit using the hotshoe mounted IR extenders on our Digital video camcorders, and started using the detachable HVL-IRC sony IR extenders. By placing these approx. 3 feet from the camera lens, we found we could effectively eliminate 100% of dust orb phenomenon.
During this entire time, we were quite certain that SOME orbs were indeed paranormal, but distinguishing them from the dust was the problem. After continuous DEVA use for 3/4 of a year, we have yet to see any more flying orbs.
